Benny and Joon

Think of a little bit of paint, a pint of madness and whole lot of special flavour of Johnny Depp, and the resulting brew is Benny and Joon.

Just the kind of movie I love. Joon's mental disorder is finely captured by Mary Stuart Masterson. The whole uneasiness, the pain, the random twiddling and outbursts and the uncertainity when Sam (Depp) comes into her life. Depp as ever, has excelled beyond my wildest imagination, just the kind of Chaplin I would love. His antics, his sincerity in the character very nicely carried. I just cant imagine having not watched this movie long before and having to retrace his movies past PoC (More on this later..)

Brillant sound tracks, my favourite is the song the movie starts and ends with, and so does my short excerpt. Do watch.

When I wake up, well I know I'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next you
When I go out, yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
If I get drunk, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver up, Yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
